Event Details

Betrayal and Forgiveness. Generosity and Sacrifice. Love Won, Lost, and Found. Travel the pathways of the human heart with folk tales centuries old and yet as timeless and current as the human race. Anne’s stories range from the hilarious to the sacred and remind us that to be human is to travel the most fascinating journey of all. “One of the most compelling storytellers to be heard anywhere, Anne Shimojima is mesmerizing! Like a gifted sculptor, Anne has a talent for cutting away all that is extraneous, leaving only the essential story in all its glistening beauty behind.  Rives Collins, McCormick Professor of Teaching Excellence, Dept. of Theatre, Northwestern University. Storytelling Arts of Indiana

Storytelling Arts of Indiana was originally founded as Stories, Inc. in 1987. Since then, it has grown by leaps and bounds, but our mission remains the same: to promote the art and use of storytelling in everyday life. From local favorites to nationally-recognized names, Storytelling Arts has brought tellers from all walks of life to Hoosier audiences for over two decades. In addition to the full schedule of storytelling concerts, Storytelling Arts of Indiana also provides:

  • Weekly storytelling at Riley Children’s Hospital
  • Monthly as I Recall Storytelling Guild meetings at the Glendale Branch Library, Indianapolis Senior Center and the Hancock County Public Library.
  • Monthly Jabberwocky after-work events in collaboration with IndyFringe
  • Summer Performances in the Neighborhood Parks for children
  • A workshop for teachers, Using Storytelling as an Educational Tool: Teaching English/Language State standards through Storytelling Activities
